OVERVIEW

Gorsam Chorten near the village of Zemithang is the biggest Stupa of the area with the tallness of regarding 100ft. It dishonesty in the valley floor, on the bank of Namjang Chu river. Situated in the town of Tawang, midst the verdant greenery of the good-looking state, Gorsam Chorten is supposed to have been built during the 12th century by a Monpa monk, Lama Pradhar.

Gorsam Chorten, situated at a distance of 90 kilometer from Tawang town, is the biggest stupa of the entire area. Believed to be construct in the early part of 12th century, it is found by a Monpa monk, Lama Pradhar. On the top of the chorten is a semi-circular arena that rest up on a three-terraced platform. In addition, on the lower most terrace of the platform, there are four miniature stupas standing erect on the four corner.
The base of this chorten is square with each side about 170 feet in length with a niche running along its complete length. Moreover, there are around 120 manis set in the made of wood frame. Encircling the stupa is a well covered path on which pilgrims go round about for pray, which is also recognized as Kora.
