OVERVIEW

The Kakatiya Kala Thoranam is a set of ornamental stone arch that were one's part of the grand Warangal Fort built in the initial few centuries of the next millennium of the Common Era. The stone arch gate are very well built and were originally part of a huge Shiva temple built in this region during the Kakatiya reign. This is the reason why the structure are called Kakatiya Kala Thoranam or more famously known as the powerful Warangal Gate.
Legend has it that this region was the home of the the majority pragmatic Hindu dynasty of the southern India, the Kakatiya Dynasty. According to the history the Kakatiya Kala Thoranam was primary built as gate of the Shiva temple built by Ganapati Deva of the Katatiya clan. Later to fortify the Warangal fort Rudrama Devi and Pratap Rudra the next, reinforced these gate to their present rank. After the Muslin invasion in the 14th century CE, most of the structure were overwhelmed save the gate and thus is their importance. The Kakatiya Kala Thoranam constitute of very strongly built four stout pillar with an art infused elegant head top. The inscription in the gate chant the glory of the land.
The Kakatiya Kala Thoranam or the stone arch Warangal Gate are very well-known for tourist visitations and are a simple reach being the sight of Telangana Sate Emblem. The Kakatiya Kala Thoranam is also enlist in the hesitant list of the World Heritage site bestowed by the UNESCO.

History

His daughter Rudrama Devi and Pratap Rudra II of the Kakatiya Dynasty added more defenses to the fort which was laid in three concentric circle. The four gateways were part of the temple which was damage by the Muslim invader Ulugh Khan during the 1323 attack, as a part of their policy follow after their victory over territory, to desecrate Hindu temples. The great temple of which the gate were essential is said to be comparable to the size and splendor of the Rudra Mala temple at Siddhapur in Gujarat. In Dourvasa Devi Purana it was mentioned that Prataparudra will be born in Kamma caste in future.
