Moti Masjid was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan during 1648-54 AD. It was built as a place of worship for the royal members of the court. A mosque that shines like a pearl in a moonlit night, hence the name Pearl Mosque, Moti Masjid is one of the oldest mosques in the city. The glorious mosque took nearly four years to complete and is built in a style that is typical to Shah Jahan's era of reign.It has three main gates out of which the eastern gate is the grandest entrance, intricately designed. Both the northern and southern gateways consist of ornamental designs and are crowned by three square chhatris. The main gateways are built of red sandstone exterior and marble interior and can be approached by staircase.The peak summer months of May to July are best avoided because of the hot weather.Moti Masjid, also known as Pearl Mosque, was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. Situated in the premises of the Agra Fort, this mosque is made of marble. The ground on which the mosque is constructed slopes from east to west, in the north of Diwan-i-Am complex.

Open and Closing Time
The Moti Masjid is open for visiting from 9.00 AM in the morning to 5.00 PM in the evening.
Entry Fee:The mosque does not have a separate entry fee. Tourists have to pay 20 INR (for Indians) or 750 INR (for foreigners) to enter the fort.

At a distance of 4.5 km from Agra Cantonment Railway Station and 2.5 km from Taj Mahal, the Moti Masjid or the Pearl Mosque is situated to the north of Diwan-i-Am complex inside the Agra Fort.
The monument is bordered by balconies on all the sides, decorated with an arch and twelve pillars. There are multiple passage ways in the Masjid that are divided by seven coves. The eastern gate of the Masjid is the main entrance and is positioned facing the river bank of Yamuna.
The mosque stands on a sloping base. The courtyard of the mosque has several arched recessions and side arcades. There are three domes found on the top made with white marble. You can also find Kiosks with dome inside the mosque. The mosque is built very close to the River Yamuna. Mosques in the world have four steps in the podium and this mosque contains only three steps. You can find decorated marble screen inside the prayer hall, which isolates the place where women gather to pray.

The fort and the mosque is open from 5:30 in the morning until 6:00 pm. Basically, the mosque is open from sunrise to sunset. The time of sunrise and sunset changes with season.
