Raj Ghat Delhi (India)
Raj Ghat is the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi,and the Father of the Nation. A black stone platform in an open-air complex marks the spot where Gandhi was cremated. A flame constantly burns at one end of the platform and visitors are required to remove their footwear before they enter Raj Ghat. Also close to the Raj Ghat is the memorial of Jawaharlal Nehru,it is known as Shantivan.
Raj Ghat is a memorial that is dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. The ghat is located in the banks of River Yamuna. It is a black marble platform that is built at the spot of cremation of Mahatma Gandhi.
If you visit during the summer season, the humidity and heat of the city can cause dehydration. Monsoons are always a hindrance for outdoor sightseeing. Thus, it is better to choose the winter season. Winter starts in October and ends in March. The climate is pleasing and clear for sightseeing. If you visit during the anniversary of any of the leaders whose memorial is found here, it might be crowded and you can even watch people paying their tribute.

The Mahatma Gandhi memorial in Delhi, India was one of the few places in the capital city that I wanted to make sure to visit when I traveled around India last winter. Delhi has a lot of tourist attractions and the Raj Ghat area along Mahatma Gandhi Road is a great place to visit on tour of Delhi. The road (also referred to Ring Road on some tourist maps) follows along the Yamuna River. Along the Raj, Ghat route are memorials to the deceased Prime Ministers of India
Raj Ghat holds the cremation spot of many notable people other than Gandhi. Jawaharlal Nehru’s memorial is located at the northern part of Raj Ghat. It is called the forest of peace. Adjacent to it, the cremation spot of K R Narayan is located. Other notable people’s memorials found her are Lal Bahadur Shastri, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, GianiZail Singh, Chandra Shekar, I K Gujral and others.
Also visit the two museums dedicated to Gandhiji,that is located nearby. The museum's house several belongings and photographs of Gandhiji. It is customary for foreign dignitaries visiting India to pay homage to Gandhi at the Raj Ghat by laying wreaths on the platform. The memorial was designed by Vanu G. Bhuta, and this national shrine was bestowed with several awards for its architectural design.
