Ram Bagh, which was built by the Mughal Emperor Babur in 1528, is the oldest Mughal garden in India. This garden was constructed as Charbagh, with pathways and canals dividing it into four parts. Babar, the Mughal Emperor built this garden in the early 16th century. He named it as Aram Bagh, which means, a place to rest or garden for resting. Babar fell in love with a gardener of the garden and waiting for six days in the garden for her reply. It is said that he left all his royal works and waited idly in the garden for six days. According to legends, Akbar fell in love with a gardener of Ram Bagh and stayed idle in the garden for six days till she agreed to marry him. Jahangir waited in this garden for the right time to enter Agra after conquering Fort of Kangra. A lot of elements in this garden were designed by Nur Jahan. Do not confuse it with the Rambagh Palace in Jaipur. Ram Bagh in Agra is the oldest garden in Mughal style in the country. It is about 5 km away from Taj Mahal. There is no designated parking area inside the garden. You might have to use the parking spots on the road, which might be metered ones. You can find many vendors selling delicacies and fruits right outside the park. The best time to visit the garden is from October to March before the summer arrives. The garden is open from sunrise to sunset. There are two pavilions on either side of the garden’s main water channel. The garden has three levels. The first tier is for vegetables and flowers. The second level is for flowers and the third one is for terrace and tanks. The ruins are not open to tourists. The garden is open from sunrise to sunset. The garden is usually open from 6 am to 6:30 pm. The timing of sunrise and sunset changes with the season. You can find many vendors selling delicacies and fruits right outside the park. Early summer is the right time to visit to spot many flowers here.
