Vishnupad Temple is a historic Hindu temple in the Indian state of Bihar. It lies in Gaya and stands near Falgu River. Legends say that the date of construction of Vishnupad Mandir, Gaya is unknown. It is believed that Lord Rama along with Sita Mata visited this place.The present building of the temple was built by the ruler of Indore, Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar in 1787. The temple was built on the banks of the river Falgu.This historic temple enshrines Lord Vishnu and was visited by the Brahmin priests like Ramanujanacharya, Shankaracharya, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, and Madhavacharya. May devotees visist to this shrine on a huge scale.Vishnupad Temple is a famous Hindu temple and people visit here daily. So, every day is considered as sacred for visiting Vishnupad Temple.

Interesting facts about Vishnupad Temple

Vishnupad Temple on the bank of River Falgu in Gaya is one of the holiest place in Gaya. There is foot print of Lord Vishnu incised into a block of basalt.

Vishnupad is holy and sacred place (Pinda Daana Vedi - the site for offering for ancestors) in gaya. Lord Vishnu's foot print stamped on a rock called Dharmashila is the object of worship here. It is in a silver trough.

The Vishnupad’s Temple is built near the Phalgu river making it even more attractive. Temple is 30 meters in height and has eight embossed pillars that support the pavilion.
